By a vote of 22-0-0, House Bill No. was passed. 10153 or 2022 General Appropriations Bill, the final budget of the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte.
Senator Sonny Angara, chairperson of the Senate Finance Committee, said the center of such funding is the country’s recovery from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The senator also mentioned the importance of prioritizing funding in the health sector, especially since the country has an Omicron variant.
In that budget, the Department of Health (DOH) will receive P230 billion in funding. This is higher than the stated P182 billion in the General Appropriations Bill passed in the Lower House of Congress.
