He said the World Health Organization (WHO) supports the government’s decision to implement granular lockdowns to prevent the further spread of Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
But according to WHO Country Representative Dr. Rabindra Abeyasinghe, said the country needs to have more validated COVID-19 data because it is possible that the results of the granular lockdown required by the WHO will not match.
Among the important things to validate are patient numbers, testing, positivity rate on the severity of the disease in the clusters of cases.
He also said that with such information, the government will be able to take a good step through contact tracing which has been called the weakest link in the Philippines’ response to the current pandemic.
He said it is important for the government to focus on the transmission that is happening now that the case has been high for several days.
Earlier, Malacañang announced that from tomorrow until the end of the month, it will be subjected to general community quarantine (GCQ).
At the same time granular lockdowns will also be conducted tomorrow
