Written by on October 4, 2021

Agriculture Secretary William Dar warned the public about buying smuggled vegetables from China, which are currently being sold in the markets.

He said the pesticide residue contained in these imported vegetables is not yet known.

The secretary also noted the huge difference in size and appearance of imported vegetables compared to locally produced ones.

So far, the Department of Agriculture has instructed the Bureau of Plant Industry to inspect imported vegetables to ensure they are safe to eat.
