COVID-19 trend in Metro Manila is declining-OCTA

Written by on September 27, 2021

The trend of COVID-19 cases in Metro Manila is declining, according to the OCTA Research group.

According to Dr. Guido David, the positivity rate and reproduction rate in the National Capital Region have dropped to 19 to 20 percent and 0.94 respectively.

It was found that a virus reproduction rate not to exceed 1 would be considered an ideal rate.

“At least, in Metro Manila and then in other areas, ‘the decrease we see, there is a basis,’ not just a case count. As well as the positivity rate, it is also decreasing… There is a genuine decrease in what we see, ”David said in an interview.

The decrease in the number of COVID-19 cases may be a result of the government’s vaccination program and the public’s adherence to health protocols.

As of September 23, it is known that there are 19.6 million fully vaccinated against COVID-19 here in the Philippines, equivalent to 25.5 percent of the target population for vaccination.

In Metro Manila, more than 6.7 million have been fully vaccinated so far.
