Barcenilla, leads Laguna Heroes

Laguna Heroes defeated Olongapo Rainbow Team 7, 18-3, this Saturday in the All Filipino Conference of the Professional Chess Association of the Philippines (PCAP) in the online tournament on the lichess platform.

Arizona, USA based Grandmaster Rogelio “Banjo” Barcenilla Jr., the two-time Asian Junior Champion who celebrated his 49th Birthday this Saturday and Fide Master Austin Jacob Literatus, one of the fastest players in the country defeated Joshua Bautista and National Master Gefer Imbuido, both in blitz and rapid on the upper boards to capture Laguna Heroes’ 3rd win in five games.

In other events, Woman National Master Jean Karen Enriquez defeated Judith Pineda on board three (female), National Master Efren Bagamasbad defeated Edimar Eje on board four (senior), Grandmaster John Paul Gomez defeated Conrad Corre on the board five (homegrown) and Kimuel Aaron Lorenzo defeated Lou Anton Rivera on board seven (homegrown).
