The Comelec is considering campaign changes in the 2022 elections

Given the challenges created by the pandemic, the Commissiom on Elections (Comelec) said it is studying possible changes to the campaign law for next year’s elections.

According to Comelec Comm. Aimee Ampoloquio, so far the existing campaign guidelines are still centered on face-to-face although the threat of COVID-19 continues.

He said that if the face-to-face campaign does not really exist, there may be a new type of campaigning that candidates can use.

The official added that they will also study the elections held abroad in the midst of the pandemic.

Meanwhile, Comelec Dir. James Jimenez who has not yet been considered premature campaigning or there has been a violation of the display of banners or posters by politicians even before the time to file the certificate of candidacy (COC).
