1 week voter registration extension, possibly done after CoC – Comelec filing

He said the Commission on Elections (Comelec) can only give a one -week extension for the extension of voter registration in preparation for the 2022 national and local elections.
According to Comelec Commissioner Marlon Casquejo, during the en banc sessions, the poll bodies insisted that the voter registration deadline is only until September 30.
However, they can make a one -week extension but this is after the filing of the certificate of candidacy (CoC).
Casquejo added that the Comelec will comply when the proposed extension of voter registration until October 31, which is pending in Congress, is passed as a law.
Casquejo also explained the reason why they no longer want to extend registration for the next election.
